Botley Bypass Road Closures Over May Half-Term
Hampshire County Council has issued advance notice of temporary road closures needed as part of the Botley Bypass construction works.
The closures are required to allow work to take place on a new roundabout at the junction of the A3051 and A334. To connect the new roundabout to the existing road network, road levels need to be raised by up to one metre. Hampshire County Council has advised that these temporary closures are needed so the works can be carried out safely.
The key closures are:
A334, from Sherecroft Way to Hillsons Road
Closed from 9pm on Friday 22 May until 6am on Bank Holiday Monday 25 May.
A3051, from YMCA Fairthorne Manor to its junction with the A334
Closed from 9pm on Friday 22 May until 6am on Monday 1 June.
From 6am on Monday 25 May, the A334 will reopen with 24-hour two-way temporary traffic lights between Sherecroft Way and Hillsons Road until 6am on Monday 1 June. These lights will be manually operated between 7am and 7pm to help manage queues.
A signed diversion route will be in place throughout the works, suitable for all vehicles including HGVs and smaller vans. Pedestrian and cycle access will be maintained.
To help prevent unsuitable local routes being used as diversions, temporary closures and movement restrictions will also be in place on Wangfield Lane, Maddoxford Lane, Reading Room Lane, Chapel Lane and Lockhams Road, with local access maintained at all times.
Residents and road users are advised to plan journeys in advance, allow extra time and follow the signed diversion routes.
